Recommended : Start with Basic Carving, then choose one or both of printing classes – Basic (Hand ) Printing or Studio (Press) Printing.
Both Printing Classes require a carved block

Session 1:
Basic Carving

THE FIRST STEP TO BEAUTIFUL PRINTS

Learn basic carving skills

  • How to translate ideas into successful compositions
  • Experience various carving mediums and tools
  • Safety and best practices

 

Students will leave with a 5×7” carved linoleum block to be used in printing class of their choice

Session 2a:
Basic Printing

LEARN THE BASICS OF PRINTING AT HOME 

prerequisite: Basic Carving or similar experience (bring your carved block)

Learn basic printing skills for printing at home (no press needed)

  • Hands on experience inking and transferring with various inks, paper and hand printing tools
  • How to successfully print at home with basic equipment

Students will print in water-based inks from a 5×7” carved block created in Basic Carving Class

Session 2b:
Printing on Press

TAKE THE NEXT STEP IN PRINTING 

prerequisite: Basic Carving or similar experience (bring your carved block)

Open to beginners or those who simply want time on studio level equipment

  • Experience the speed and repeatability of a 18″ roller press
  • Inking with high end brayers and oil-based inks
  • Learn to soak and prepare paper for roller press
  • 1/8” thick linoleum blocks only,  up to 12″x20″

Paper provided up to 9″x12″.  Bring your own paper for larger size plates.

Creative Printing

MONOTYPES, COLLAGE AND OTHER CREATIVE PRINT PROCESSES 

This is a more free-form process than traditional relief printing-perfect for painters or artists who find carving too tedious

  • Create one of a kind prints using a combination of collage and printmaking techniques
  • Print from all types of pattern making objects – stencils, foam, found objects.  There is no limit!

 

Students will create multiple 8×10 original prints

(Materials included. Larger paper available at additional cost)

Printing on Fabric

Linocut printing on fabric 
Less a class and more of a pay-what-you-can seminar of printing on fabric

  • T-shirts and light canvas bags will be available for sale
  • Inks and printing tools provided
