Motorized
Prosthetic Knee - Design completed for my Master's Degree as
part of the Human Engineering Lab at UC Berkeley.

This prosthetic knee was
designed to provide powered assistance for stair climbing and hill
ascent. Current state-of-the-art prosthetics are energetically passive
and cannot lift the person up stairs. The amputee must either exert
great effort to climb stairs, typically pulling themselves up with
railing, or take the elevator.
I worked as part of a team
to design the entire electromechanical system and completed my work
by developing a mathematical model of the knee to predict performance.
